Step into a dynamic exploration of Nicaragua’s cultural soul through the eyes of two promising young artists. Sombras & Simbolos presents the powerful and evocative work of RAG (Ricardo Augusto Gomez) and Engel Urbina—emerging voices whose art is rooted in Nicaragua’s traditional and modernist schools but unmistakably of the present moment.
With personal, expressive styles, RAG and Urbina navigate the country’s rich tapestry of myth, legend, and folklore. Their visual languages range from vivid figurative storytelling to symbolic abstraction, offering a layered and immersive journey through Nicaragua’s collective imagination.
Expect contrasts and surprises: paintings that conjure the dark mystery of ancient tales through shadow and drama, alongside pieces bursting with energy, motion, and bold color, expressing the chaotic joy and enduring spirit of Nicaraguan life. As part of the experience, both artists will be doing live painting during the event, offering a rare glimpse into their creative process in real time.
A Culinary Tribute to Nicaraguan Folklore
To complement the visual storytelling, the evening will also feature a pop-up dinner with a special themed menu inspired by the myths and flavors of Nicaragua. Designed in harmony with the exhibition, each dish is a sensory exploration that brings the country’s cultural narratives to life through taste.
