The Destination

Can it get better than an oceanfront location for your Nicaraguan vacation? Add year-round warm weather, practically perfect surf conditions, plus hikable jungle terrain, and Rancho Santana proves it can.

Location

In southwest Nicaragua, Rancho Santana sits on the Pacific Coast about two hours from the country’s capital, Managua, and three hours from Liberia, Costa Rica.

To the east lies another major body of water, Lake Nicaragua. This isthmus location, bordered by water on both sides, means the Ranch enjoys near-constant offshore breezes.

Nicaragua Seasons

Nicaragua has two seasons: Nicaragua’s dry season and green season. The dry season typically runs from November through May with little to no precipitation, while Nicaragua’s green season, which is marked by sunny days with periodic rain and tropical conditions, takes place from June through November.

Because of The Ranch’s location on an isthmus near the equator, you can expect temperatures in the mid-80s to low 90s, with low humidity all year.

Surf

Thanks to those offshore breezes, plus an ideally angled coastline and multiple beaches, Rancho Santana is a wave wonderland for surfers of all levels.

Nature

Rancho Santana’s terrain is as diverse as the guests who come to hike our many trails. Traverse jungle and tropical dry forest on the Los Perros loops; top off a walk to Playa Escondida with a visit to the turtle sanctuary and a splash in the tide pools; and summit a sand dune at Playa Duna.

For outdoor adventure further afield, book a guided fishing or snorkeling excursion on the Pacific.
