Surfing Lesson FAQs

What’s included with the lesson?

All surf lessons include a bilingual and ISA (International Surfing Association) instructor. All lessons take place at Playa Los Perros, one of Nicaragua’s most consistent and beginner-friendly surf breaks.

What should I wear and bring to my surf lesson?

We recommend wearing a bathing suit, rashguard (if preferred), and sunscreen. We’ll provide the board and gear. Don’t forget to bring water and a sense of adventure.

How long is a typical surf lesson at Playa Los Perros?

Lessons typically run 90 minutes, including warm-up, safety overview, and time in the water.

What is the best time of year to surf in Nicaragua?

Nicaragua’s surf season runs year-round.
For the most consistent swells and bigger waves, we recommend visiting between March and September.
If you prefer smaller, more beginner-friendly waves, the best time to come is between November and February.

What happens if surf conditions are unsafe or the weather changes?

Safety is our top priority. If conditions aren’t suitable, due to heavy weather or dangerous currents, your lesson will be rescheduled or refunded.

Are there age or weight restrictions for participants?

We offer surf lessons for kids as young as 3 years old, as long as they’re eager and ready to try.
Participants should feel comfortable in the water and be in good overall health.
If you’re interested but have specific health considerations, feel free to reach out to us – we’re happy to see what we can accommodate.

How many people can join a group lesson?

There’s no set limit for group lessons – we’re happy to accommodate large groups.
We just need to know in advance so we can ensure we have enough instructors available.
We always maintain a 2-to-1 client-to-instructor ratio during group lessons to provide a safe and personalized experience.

How far in advance should I book, and is a deposit required?

We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance, but we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever possible.
During peak seasons, it’s best to book a week prior to your arrival, to ensure availability.
