Dear Rancho Santana Owners,

My name is Roy Kruiswyk, and I am delighted to be writing you this first-of-many communications.

I’ve already mentioned the two words that I want to emphasize throughout my tenure here: Community and Communication. These are my guiding principles as I take on the mantle as your new Resort Director, working alongside our many talented directors and managers. Rancho Santana is many things: 2700 acres and five beaches of rural, tropical paradise; a world-class luxury resort; a sustainable, environmentally-conscious business model; a source of stability and growth for the surrounding hamlets; a haven of tranquility and respite from the busy world; and a place where you can always feel safe, comfortable and part of a lasting community. Rancho Santana has grown incredibly over the past twenty-four years and naturally, we have taken time to find our rhythm. We will always learn and grow in new ways.

Let me pause here and tell you a little about myself. Some of you may recognize me; I first moved to Nicaragua in 2006 and spent the following two years building my own home along this gorgeous coast. At a time when the internet was only available in Rivas, construction networks were largely non-existent and even phone numbers were rare, I grew to understand the importance of trusting in the people around me, in trusting in my community. I first joined Rancho Santana in 2009 to facilitate our then-burgeoning home-building demand. Life has taken me in other directions over the past five years, but my heartstrings have always pulled me here, and I’m more than thrilled to be back.

I imagine the beginning of your chapter in Nicaragua might be similar to mine: you felt a sense of adventure in the unknown and took a leap of faith to become a part of Rancho Santana in all of its vision and splendor. Whether you bought a finished home or a piece of land and built, or are considering building, we are all now part of something far bigger and more beautiful than we could have imagined.

In filling what is a newly introduced role to The Ranch – which entails strengthening our guest and owner experiences – it’s my initiative to improve our ongoing communication with owners. You want to know all about who we are, what we are working on, where we are going, and what we value. I firmly believe in the simple but incredibly important concept of open communication. Communication builds trust; it builds relationships; it builds community.

The purpose of this letter is not only to introduce myself personally, but to introduce myself as someone you will be hearing from periodically with updates from the organization and – equally important – someone who wants to listen and welcomes you to reach out with your own thoughts or comments.

As a little sneak peek at things to come, I would like to touch on a few of the projects on which we are currently working. Firstly, please keep your eyes open for an upcoming announcement from our Spa in El Bosque about an owner-specific offer that we have been creating as a token of our appreciation. Secondly, I would like to highlight a tradition in the making: our monthly owner events. These events have always had you in mind; we want to foster an environment where you, whether long-time residents or first-time buyers, could get to know each other in a casual environment. They are also an opportunity for you to get to know more about The Ranch. Each month we will be inviting at least one of our operational directors to the event to give you the chance to get to know them and their work. I will be present in these gatherings as well to discuss any topic you would like to touch on over a beverage of your choice. Lastly, for those of you who are not presently here – or who would like a change of scenery – I would like to remind you that we offer special promotions for owners year-round at The Inn. Please reach out to us if you’re interested in visiting us any time soon.

I am proud of all that Rancho Santana has become, and it is my mission to ensure that you feel the same pride in being a part of this incredible community as well. I look forward to meeting many of you over the holidays, and please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Roy Kruiswyk
Resort Director
